Eat Healthy: You Are What You Eat, After All

If you are what you eat, you need to ask yourself - "Is this really good for me?"

Here are some tips to put you on your way to eating a healthy diet.

1. Eat in moderation. Don?t overeat! Just because you love pizza doesn?t mean you need to eat every slice you can. When food is available, constrain yourself to eat a moderate portion not a ?healthy heaping portion.?

2. Drink Water! Drinking about 8 glasses of 8 ounces a day can do wonders for your health. Water is used throughout your body in many ways. It is a natural diuretic and replenishes your body with liquid at the same time.

3. Eat fruits and vegetables. The vitamins and minerals your body needs to function properly need to come from a natural source. Fruits and vegetables are nature?s snack food. They are a great sources of fiber, vitamin A, vitamin C and antioxidants, and many other nutrients. Many experts even believe that fruits and veggies should be the mainstay of your diet.

It is recommended that you eat between five and nine helpings of fruits and vegetables a day. Mix the colors of fruits and vegetables so you can get a healthy mix of vitamins and nutrients.

4. Eat Lean Meat! Eating meat with a lot of fat can raise your cholesterol level and contribute to other health issues. Eating lean meat is healthy for you in a number of ways. It reduces your fat intake that could raise your cholesterol level. Many of the feeds that cattle are now eating contain chemicals that may reside in the fatty tissues. Look for organic meat to avoid this issue. Organic meat comes from cattle that eat grass and are not given hormones for growth.

When eating can be so easy, you don't have any excuse to not eat healthy!
