Entry Level Medical Transcription Jobs
If you are a college grad seeking employment or you just want to get started on a fresh new career, medical transcription could be a great option for you. Entry level medical transcription jobs have opened up a great deal of opportunity for those people who do not have extensive experience in the field but are looking to get their start. Unlike many other professions, you do not necessarily need to have a degree in the field to get started. Although taking an online medical transcription course will give you a competitive edge, many programs will train you right on the job. With the wide use of digital transcription lately, it has opened up even more jobs for entry level experience levels due to the ease of uploading transcribed docs and dictation. Entry level MT jobs can also be done from home, but your best chance when you do not have previous experience is to get started working from a doctors office or some other kind of medical professionals office so that you can receive hands on training and also have direct access to assistance when you need it. The other thing to note about entry level MT jobs is that they usually pay somewhere between $8-$12 an hour, which is slightly less than the average $14 an hour for a more trained and experience MT. If you would rather take your time and receive the proper certification and training before starting, your chances will only increase that you will land a job immediately and your pay will also most likely start at a higher scale than the applicants with no prior experience. Receiving MT training will also help you advance your skills at a faster pace because you will have a base knowledge going into the job and you will be able to pick up typing skills and terminology a lot faster. If you are interested in the English language and grammar, this will also help you greatly when you are starting out! Either way, if you choose to start with no experience or if you choose to start with a certification and some training, do not get discouraged if you do not find a job right away. There are plenty of medical transcription jobs out there for both cases, you might just need to put in the extra effort to do research and sell yourself and your abilities to the employer.
